The inception of The Grateful Recovering Addict stems from a deeply personal place. As a recovering alcoholic, I experienced firsthand the challenges and struggles that come with addiction. Throughout my recovery journey, I realized the scarcity of accessible, free resources that could guide and support individuals like myself. This realization was the catalyst for creating this platform. I wanted to create a space where people could find not only the resources they need but also the understanding and support from others who have walked a similar path. Overcoming Addiction is my way of giving back to the community that has supported me and continues to support countless others.

Our Founder's Story
Austin Tschantz: Our Founder
Austin's journey is one of resilience, transformation, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN, he enjoyed a vibrant early life but soon found himself trapped in the grip of addiction. By the age of 27, after years of daily drinking, Austin faced a life-altering diagnosis: cirrhosis of the liver. This moment marked a turning point, as he entered organ failure and realized the urgent need for change.
Determined to reclaim his life, Austin embarked on a difficult path to recovery, attending two rehabilitation programs. Through sheer will and the support of those around him, he navigated the challenges of sobriety, embracing a new lifestyle dedicated to healing. Since that pivotal moment, Austin has remained sober, using his experience to inspire others struggling with addiction.
Motivated by his own journey, Austin founded The Grateful Recovering Addict with a mission to support individuals battling addiction. His passion for helping others stems from a deep understanding of their struggles. Under his leadership, the company has created a compassionate environment, offering resources, counseling, and community support to empower those on their recovery journey.
Austin's story is a testament to the power of second chances and the importance of community in healing. He continues to light the way for many, proving that recovery is possible and that no one has to face their struggles alone.
